Michael Kors’ keen eye for fashion can be traced back to age five when he advised his mother to remove the flowers on her wedding dress for her second marriage. He attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City after high school and after working at Lothar’s, he was encouraged by then Bergdoft Goodman vice president Dawn Mello to create his own label, which he did in 1981. The brand quickly took off and has since expanded all over the world. MICHAEL Michael Kors was launched in 2004.
